Life Experience and Philosophy

My great and late father, Paul was a plant freak in his own right and gave to me my love of the natural and spiritual worlds as well as my first book about what plants I could eat in the wild and how to identify trees. My Mother informed me that I was conceived at Wind Cave National park in the Black Hills while the family was on a tent camping vacation. As it turns out I am the product of a rainy night, a wet sleeping bag and the quickening of a Black Hills thunder storm.
Our family lived on the Rosebud Indian reservation in South Dakota for about nine years where my Father worked as a Social Worker. He was a naturalist, an herbalist, gardener, spiritualist and great hunter. He provided our family with almost all of the food we ate, from organic vegetables to wild game. We made everything from scratch because we had to, so I learned a great deal about how the natural world of nourishment and biology works by hanging around the kitchen. When I was 6 and my brother 7, my Father walked us down the street holding our hands and lectured us on Yin Yang theory. I will never forget my first lesson on the law of cause and effect.

Herbal Education
I have had a lifelong relationship with the natural world and have been enthralled with botany most of my life. I am a Practitioner and Graduate of the the East West School of Planetary Herbology. This herbal training combines the study of Traditional Chinese Herbal Theory, Ayurvedic Theory and Western Herbalism. I also received a Certificate of completion for Herbal Medicine, Mental Health and Wellness Training from the American Herbalist Guild. A program of study preparing me to work with mental health professionals and to use plant based solutions for emotional and mental well being. |

I studied the identification, collection and processing of medicinal plants of Arizona with local Herbalist Charles Kane, completed Culinary Herbalism with KP Khalsa (former President of the American Herbalist Guild). I have completed extensive botanical study through Herb Mentor and Learning Herbs and am enrolled in the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine conducted posthumously via the extensive video library of the late Michael Moore. I continue my herbal education with the East West School of Planetary Herbology and my esteemed teachers, Michael Tierra L.Ac. O.M.D. & Lesley Tierra L.Ac., O.M.D., Miles Coleman, RH (AHG), and Susan Kramer Phd. RH (AHG). It is said that it take many lifetimes to become an Herbalist.
